35-yr-old man murdered, cops suspect rivalry

Kolkata: A 35-year-old man was killed when he was returning home at Bansdroni in South Kolkata at around 1 am on Monday.
Police said the victim, Animesh Sardar, was a resident of Shibmandir Road at Bansdroni. He was a non-teaching staff in a school.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he was attacked on Sunday night when he was returning home. The police initiated a murder case in this connection on the basis of a complaint lodged by his family members. Three youth were also detained for questioning in this connection.
The police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder but they suspect that old rivalry and dispute over payment of some money led to the crime.
Police came to know that the youth went to meet some of his friends on Sunday evening. He became late in returning home. The accused was keeping a watch on the victim. They stopped him when he was returning home on a motorbike. There were around five to six youth, preliminary investigation revealed.
They started beating him up. They continued
beating him till he fell on the road. One of the accused was carrying a sharp knife that is usually used to cut fishes and the same youth repeatedly stabbed him.
The accused fled when they realised some people were approaching the spot. The local people found Animesh lying in a pool of blood and crying for help.
They informed the police and he was taken to MR Bangur Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The police initiated a probe based on the complaint lodged by the victim's family members.
Senior police officers went to the spot. The knife that was used to murder Animesh was found close to the place where the incident took place.
Police spoke to some local people and came to know about the victim's rivalry with some youth. Based on it, the police detained three youth and interrogated them.
The police also spoke to the victim's family members and came to know that he had a dispute with some youth over payment of some money.
