3 youths held for making obscene gestures at bus passengers

Kolkata: Three youths were arrested by the police after they made some obscene gestures, in a drunken state, inside a moving bus on their way home from Digha.

Police said the accused youths were playing loud speakers inside the bus and made objectionable gestures towards fellow passengers. The other passengers of the bus urged the youths to stop playing loud speakers but they turned a deaf ear to their appeal. When the accused youths continued doing so, the conductor of the bus asked them to get down from the vehicle. This infuriated the youths who allegedly threatened the conductor with dire consequences.

Having no option, the bus conductor rang up the local police station narrating the whole incident. Finally, the police officers from Contai police station intercepted the bus and arrested the accused.

The police are interrogating the youths. The accused have been identified as Sunny Roy, Sujan Barua and Vinod Rao. According to the district police, the youths are all residents of Padmapukur area under Entally police station in the city. Police are yet to confirm if the accused had boarded that bus in drunken state or whether they had consumed alcohol inside the bus. The youths went to Digha on Thursday and were returning home on Sunday.

They have been slapped with several charges, including intimidation and making obscene gestures at a public place.
