3 shot at in two separate incidents of gang rivalry

Kolkata: Two construction building material suppliers were shot at by some unidentified miscreants in broad day light when they were sitting inside their office in Naodapara area of Kamarhati on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident spread tension among locals. Both the victims suffered bullet injuries and they were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by the locals. An eyewitness said he heard the sound of a gun and rushed to the spot only to see the victims lying in a pool of blood.
Victims suffered bullet injuries on their legs. The 3 miscreants fled the spot immediately after the incident. The locals also told police that the miscreants came on a motorcycle.
They hurled bombs on the road to terrorise them while fleeing. According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that an old business rivalry might have led to the incident. They, however, have started a detailed probe in this regard. They are interrogating the victims who are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. Raids are being conducted in various parts of the district to nab the culprits.
It may be mentioned that in a similar incident a fish seller, Seikh Chandu (48) was shot at by some miscreants when returning home on late Monday night. The incident took place near Manirampur bazaar area in Barrackpore.
The miscreants stopped him and shot at him from the point blank. One bullet missed the target while the other pierced through his right hand. The miscreants fled. He was taken to BN Bose Hospital. His condition is stated to be critical. The shop owners at the Manirampur bazar closed down their shops on Tuesday morning to protest against the incident.
