3 detained from airport for carrying fake passports

Police detained three foreigners from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Wednesday after their passports were found carrying some other persons' names.

The foreigners were interrogated by the investigators who later found that two of them were Sri Lankan nationals and one was from Bangladesh. The immigration department of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport handed over the accused to the police. The two Sri Lankan's, K Prasanth and Alosious Arul Maari, landed in Kolkata from Hong Kong on Tuesday night. "The officers saw that their passports were carrying some other persons' names. They could not even answer the questions of officers there," said an airport source. On the other hand, the Bangladeshi national Amrit Khan was going to Kuwait via Kolkata and Doha. He was also carrying a passport in which some other person's name was written. Khan was also taken to the police station.

It may be mentioned that the incidents of travelling with fake passport are frequent in Kolkata airport. The intelligence wing, CISF and NIA have been watching closely on every such incident.
