2nd campus of Taki Boys to be English Medium

Kolkata: Taki House Boys School will introduce English as the medium of instruction on its second campus from nursery level from 2019 academic year.
It will be the first state-run school in the Bengal where Madhyamik syllabus will be followed but the medium of instruction will
be English.
Also, it becomes the state's first government school to have a second campus.
Taki Boys School recently took over Madhya Kolkata Balika Vidyalaya, an old school that was closed down due to lack of students.
The Education department requested the headmaster of Taki Boys School Paresh Kumar Nanda to consider the proposal of taking over the school to set up its second campus as the number of students at Taki Boys has already exceeded 1,400.
The school has already introduced English as the medium of instruction in classes XI and XII.
The second campus has been renovated and a small
playground has been made for the students.
Taki Boys School which recently completed its golden jubilee is in high demand. In 2015, it got the district's best school award in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.
It may be mentioned that because of the decision of the former Left Front government to ban English at the primary level,
the well known state-run schools in the city lost their importance.
Taki Boys School authorities felt that English is as important as the vernacular.
A meeting will be held on the new campus on Friday where senior officials of the state
Education department will be present.
