2 TMC activists injured in clash at Basanti

Kolkata: Two Trinamool Congress activists suffered injuries in a clash that broke out allegedly between two factions within the party around Basanti block in South 24-Parganas.
Fresh tension erupted on Monday morning as members of one group clashed with the other following a long standing dispute over some issue. Basanti had been on broil for quite sometime following a group clash.
Two persons, including a nine-year-old school kid, were killed and more than 10 injured in clashes and gun-battle allegedly between two factions of Trinamool Congress in Basanti on last Thursday afternoon.
Riyazul Mollah (9) reportedly was shot at after being caught in the crossfire between the two factions while he was returning home from school on Thursday afternoon.
A Trinamool Congress activist, Hasan Laskar (35) had also been killed after being shot. His body was recovered on Friday morning. Police arrested seven persons in this connection.
But the violence continued to spread through as a fresh clash broke out in the area on Monday morning.
Many villagers confined themselves to their house in fear of being attacked. Two persons believed to be Trinamool activists sustained injuries in their body.
They have been identified as Saddam Hossain Piyada, Salam Hossain Piyada and many others. They were all taken to the Canning Sub-divisional hospital for treatment.
After being informed, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. None has been arrested in this connection so far.
