17-year-old missing girl found dead in dustbin

Kolkata: The body of a 17-year-old missing girl was found inside a dustbin at Apcar Garden area in Asansol on Tuesday.

It is alleged that her parents had received a ransom call

during the time she went missing.

According to sources, on Saturday evening, the girl had told her parents that she was going for her tuition classes. Since then, she had been went missing.

Her parents claimed that they somehow came to know that their daughter got down from the bus in the middle before reaching her destination. Since then her mobile phone has remained switched off.

After a few hours, when she did not come back, her parents got in touch with their relatives and their daughter's friends but they discovered she had not been to any of them.

Later, a missing complaint was lodged at Asansol South police station.

While police were trying to locate her, on Monday, the girl's father received an SMS from her mobile number demanding Rs 15 lakh as ransom. However, when he tried to call on the number he found the phone was switched off. He immediately informed police about the SMS.

Though the police tried to track the mobile number, they failed as the mobile phone was switched off.

On Tuesday morning, local residents of Apcar Garden area saw a girl's body lying inside a dust bin.

Police recovered the body and found that it was the girl who went missing. Sources informed that her left wrist was slit.

However, a murder case has been initiated and probe is on to nab the accused persons.
