Kolkata: A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the Panchasayar gang rape case on Wednesday. According to police, the prime accused of the case Uttam Ram disclosed the boy's name.

Earlier after arresting taxi driver Ram, the police was confused as he changed his statement multiple times.

Though primarily Ram claimed to be the innocent but later he confessed to crime. But Ram had stated that he was the only one inside the car.

After interrogating him, investigating officials was confused as the woman had problem of fragmental memory. Ram kept on stating that he was the only one in the car.

During Tuesday's reconstruction, Ram disclosed that a 17-year-old boy from Katipota in South 24-Parganas was also with him while torturing the victim woman.

Following the reconstruction, police interrogated him and on Wednesday the accused boy was arrested from his home. During the interrogation, the boy reportedly confessed to the crime.

The boy is known to Ram and often they used to drink together.

Though Ram and the boy confessed to the crime, the police is yet to be sure whether both of them were in the car since the woman boarded the taxi. The boy and Ram both confessed that the minor was the first to rape the woman.

However, the police produced the minor before the Juvenile Justice Board and appealed to consider him as adult which has its provisions in the law.

Sources informed that the prayer has been accepted and order will be given after his psychological and socio-economic background test. Till then he will stay at a home.
