12 polling personnel injured in mishap near Pathanpara

BALURGHAT: At least 12 polling personnel including Central Force jawans were injured when the vehicle in which they were returning after poll on Tuesday night, rammed into a bike coming from the opposite direction. The incident took place near Pathanpara in Banshihari block at around 8 pm.

According to a source, the injured were returning from booth no. 138 with EVMs and other voting material. They had to deposit the items at the receiving centre in Buniadpur.

Locals rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of the collision, rescued the injured and admitted them to a local health centre. The condition of five among them is serious. The police were also informed.

As the condition of pillion rider Pabitra Mohanta turned critical, he was later shifted to the nearby Raiganj District Hospital. The vehicle's driver has been admitted to Gangarampur Sub-Divisional Hospital.
