1,000-seater hall expected to be inaugurated in September

Kolkata: The meeting hall with seating capacity of around 1,000 people at a time situated adjacent to the state secretariat Nabanna is expected to be inaugurated in the first week of September. The first meeting here will be the central Administrative Review Meeting which usually takes place place at Town Hall.
It is learnt there are possibilities that the central-level Administrative Review Meeting will take place on September 4. According to an official of the state Public Works Department, the permanent venue for the meeting adjacent to Nabanna is ready and workers are now just giving the finishing touches.
A new technology has been used to build the permanent structure. The unique curved shape structure is a centrally air-conditioned one. The specialised aluminum sheet that was brought from Germany was used for roofing of the permanent venue to hold state government meetings. "It had become possible to give a unique shape to the structure by using the specialised aluminum sheet and even the joints of the aluminum sheets cannot be identified," the official said.
It may be mentioned that the state PWD had taken up the task only after the design of the structure was approved by the Chief Minister. According to another senior official of the state government, in Town Hall they somehow used to accommodate around 750 people during the Central Administrative Review Meetings in which representatives from all districts attend. But with the new venue which is also adjacent to the state secretariat, there will be no problem in ensuring spacious seating arrangement for the officials attending the meeting.
