1 more held over Dildar Sheikh's murder case

Kolkata: Police arrested one more person in connection with the death of Trinamool Congress worker Dildar Sheikh.
Dildar was shot dead on Monday over a fallout that broke out during the process of filing nomination at Suri I block in Birbhum.
Police said one Pranab Mal was arrested in this connection on Friday and with his arrest, the total number of arrested persons went up to five.
Cops had arrested four persons on Wednesday in this connection and they were remanded to 7-day police custody. The four persons who were arrested are Sheikh Safiul, Gautam Kora, Bablu Sheikh and Asit Sarkar.
Acting on a tip off, police had conducted a raid at Koridha in Suri and arrested all four of them.
Sources said that police came to know about Pranab after questioning four of them. Subsequently, they initiated a search for the accused and got to know Pranab's whereabouts.

He was produced before the court on Friday. While police asked to remand him for 10 days, the court remanded him to five-day police custody.
It may be mentioned that the arrest came a day after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was set up to probe into the murder of Dildar. The Investigating Officer (IO) of the case was also changed and it was done to expedite the process of the investigation.
Inspector-in-charge of Suri police station Debashis Panda was made the IO of the case replacing sub-inspector, Soumo Dutta.
It may be recalled that Firhad Hakim, senior Trinamool Congress leader and the state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister,
had said on the day of the incident that a group of miscreants from Jharkhand was brought in to create trouble and he had alleged that they were brought in by the BJP.
He had further alleged that the group that had created trouble at Mohammadbazar and Nalhati was behind the incident at Suri as well.
With the arrest of Pranab, the members of the SIT, are also trying to get information about others involved in it.
