Kolkata-Royals match under weather threat

Kolkata Knight Riders were forced to practice indoors today due to rain and thunderstorm in the city as defending champions’ IPL contest against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday is also under the weather threat.

“I don’t know about the forecast but if it’s like this I cannot do much about it. We can’t handle such things. The only thing we can handle is what happens on the field,” Gambhir said about the gloomy conditions outside.

In fact the local Met office predicted more rain on Sunday and blamed it on a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining South Bengal.

“We expect this will influence Sunday’s weather as well. There’s rain and thunderstorm forecast for Gangetic West Bengal districts so south Bengal may be affected,” IMD director GC Debanath said.

However, he clarified that the forecast is for the city and surrounding areas in the radius of 50-km, so it’s difficult to predict whether it will affect the match. “It can happen anywhere. However the intensity may be less,” Debnath added.
