KMDA CEO Ghulam Ali Ansari removed

Surendra Gupta has been given the additional charge of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) replacing Md Ghulam Ali Ansari. Gupta is at present the Managing Director of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation. He will also look after the functioning of the development authority as its CEO. It may be mentioned that on May 22, 2014, Ansari was made the secretary of KMDA.

Though the state government claimed it to be a regular transfer, sources in Nabanna claimed that Gupta was asked to take the charge of the development authority’s CEO on an immediate basis as progress of certain projects of KMDA had slowed down despite being directed to expedite the work. The reason behind the slowing down of the projects had been a cause of concern, sources said.
