KMC show-causes five workers for taking unauthorised leave

Member and Mayor-in-council (Health) Atin Ghosh on Sunday show-caused five health workers at ward number 2 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) after he found that they had taken leave without authorised by the senior officials.

Ghosh on Sunday paid a visit at ward numbers 1,2,6 to take a stock of the situation. During his visit at a primary health centre at ward number 2 he saw that five health workers were on leave without the proper permission from the higher authorities. As he came to know from the vector control officer that they did not take prior permission of the leave, Ghosh has decided to show-cause the five health workers.

The Borough health officer has been asked to investigate into the matter and submit a report to Ghosh as early as possible. Action may be taken against these health workers if any negligence was found on their part. After his visit Ghosh said that the KMC can also provide assistance to the adjoining municipalities like Baranagar, South Dum Dum and others in anti-dengue drive. He said that the KMC is ready to co-ordinate with the other municipalities in the adjoining areas and can conduct an anti-dengue drive.

It may be mentioned that Ghosh has been visiting various places in the city including the educational institutions in past few days and detected larvae in many places.

KMC had launched massive awareness campaign and health workers were visiting every locality requesting people to clean the containers where water was kept at least once a week.

In another development, kin of a dengue victim in Hooghly gheroaed the leader of the Opposition Abdul Mannan and protested against the politics of death of a person. The incident happened on Sunday morning when Mannan went to the house of dengue victim.
