KK Paul takes oath as Uttarakhand governor

Dr Krishan Kant Paul, the former police commissioner of Delhi, on Thursday took oath as sixth Governor of Uttarakhand. “I am feeling dignified to become first citizen of the Uttarakhand state. Peaceful environment is pre-requisite for the development of any state. There are tremendous possibilities here for development. We have to work together to achieve this goal,” he said during the oath ceremony.

Senior Justice of Nainital High Court YK Bisht administered oath of office and secrecy to Dr Paul. He replaced Aziz Qureshi who has been appointed as the new Governor of Mizoram.

“Memories of great personalities are associated with the circuit houses of Dehradun and Nainital. Today, I am also becoming a part of this. It’s an honorable job, but challenging too,” he added.
Chief Minister Harish Rawat extended greetings to the new Governor of Uttarakhand.

Chief Minister Rawat said that Dr Paul’s comprehensive experience will benefit the state and described his address to the people of the state as encouraging.
