KJo wants ‘freedom from thoughts’

t’s not just about buddies, really. Karan Johar flew down to the Capital on Saturday, not only to cheer buddy Manish Malhotra from the front row at the PCJ Delhi Couture Week, but also to show off Alia Bhatt before the release of Student of the Year.

‘We are just starting with the promos. What better way than to show off Alia on the ramp? I wanted Alia to be in the spotlight,’ said Johar on the sidelines of the fashion extravaganza.

The director of superhit family dramas revealed that they would be releasing and promoting one song at a time for the upcoming Student of the Year. ‘There will be lots of promotions for every song. Since there are three kids who will be on the big screen for the first time, we are taking it slowly,’ he said.

Does working with three new faces mean added responsibility? ‘Yes, it is a great responsibility,’ added Johar, who flew out on Saturday night itself. Looking dapper in a suit, Johar said he hasn’t been following the ongoing Couture Week at all. ‘I am just here for Manish’s show,’ said the producer-director who called himself a ‘filmmaker and journalist’.

And what does he want to be free from, ahead of Independence Day? ‘I want to be free from my thoughts. I think too much and that leads to a lot of stress. I need freedom from that,’ he said.
