Kirron Kher woos voters in Kalkaji

To woo around 1 lakh voters in south Delhi’s Kalkaji constituency, BJP MP and Bollywood actress — Kirron Kher on Thursday conducted a road show in the area to draw support for Akali candidate Harmeet Singh Kalka.

“If you want a stable government, then support BJP,” Kher said. The road show began from ISKCON Temple covering prominent places of the constituency like Sriniwaspuri, Nehru Place, Govindpuri and Kalkaji among others.

Over 1,000 people joined the rally in support of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Harmeet Singh Kalka who is in the fray on the BJP’s lotus symbol.

Amid slogans of “Bhartiya Janta Party Zindabad! Harmeet Singh Zindabad” Kher said: “Delhiites will get a stable government. BJP will provide women’s security, best healthcare, education and much more. But for the same, people have to vote for BJP. I appeal to the voters of Kalkaji to cast their valuable votes in favour of Harmeet Singh who will deliver the best if he comes to power.”

In the 2013 Assembly elections, Harmeet Singh Kalka had won the seat and got 30,683 votes defeating AAP’s Dharambir Singh. This time, AAP has replaced him with Avtar Singh. Subhash Chopra is the Congress candidate.

“Where there is will, there is a way,” said Harmeet Singh Kalka, outgoing MLA of the Kalkaji constituency, and added that he has proved the statement by carrying developmental works for the area during his short tenure by spending approximately Rs 36 crore to resolve the various problems.

Kalka said: “I have promised the residents of my constituency to address the issues related to sanitation, water problem, good roads, improving healthcare, construction of parking facility among others. Almost everything had been accomplished in the short duration of time.”

The constituency covers areas like Maharani Bagh , Friends Colony West, Sri Niwaspuri, Nehru Nagar, Ishwar Nagar, Amritpuri, East of Kailash, Garhi, CSP Flats, Okhla Phase 3, Shyam Nagar, Nehru Enclave, Kalkaji, Balaji Estate,Giri Nagar, SRG Colony and Govindpuri.
