King Khan to attend KIFF inauguration ceremony

Shah Rukh Khan, the brand ambassador of Bengal, has confirmed his presence at the inauguration ceremony of the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on November 11.

It may be mentioned that Amitabh Bachchan will inaugurate the film festival and his wife Jaya Bachchan will also be present in the occasion, as in the previous editions.

In a communiqué, Shah Rukh confirmed to the state secretariat that he would attend the inauguration programme. Accordingly, it was announced in Nabanna on Friday that they received a message from the actor his presence in the programme. Till Thursday, there had been no confirmation whether he would attend in the ceremony. The announcement that came from Nabanna on Friday made the fans of Shah Rukh happy, as their favourite hero would once again visit the City of Joy.

Being the brand ambassador of the state, Shah Rukh has featured in many promotional videos earlier and he had campaigned about the wonders of the state. Moreover, he will also feature in the commercials of ‘Experience Bengal’, the campaign that will be released at the Bengal Global Business Summit 2017, to be organised on January 20 and 21.

Notable, this will be the first time when the festival will begin with a Bengali movie. ‘Benche Thakar Gaan’ (Song of Life), directed by Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy, will open the festival this year. 156 films from 65 countries will be screened at KIFF and it will be organised at 13 venues.

A delegation from the Chinese film industry will also be present during the film festival. They will be interacting with the directors, actors and technicians in the city.
