Khagragarh blast: Abdul Gaffar gives witness

The then inspector-in-charge of Burdwan police station gave witness in connection with the Khagragarh blast in Bankshall Court on Saturday. Abdul Gaffar, the then Inspector in charge, on Saturday identified the prime accused Abdul Hakim. He was asked the by the court to identify Hakim.
The counsel of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) pleaded before the court to order an in-
camera proceeding in this connection considering the security of the witnesses in this case.

The court granted the petition of the NIA. The 20 persons who were arrested in connection with the Khagragarh blast were also produced before the court on Saturday.

The defence counsel asked the then Inspector in charge to narrate what he had seen after reaching the spot on the day of the incident. He told the court that he went to the spot after policemen who were patrolling the area informed that there was a cooking gas cylinder blast in a two-storied house.

When he reached the spot, he found two persons lying with severe injuries in a passage. Shakil Ahmed died on way to the hospital while Subhan Mondal had succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
