Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sought Election Commission’s directions to the central government to put on hold the decision to double the gas prices from 1st of next month.
The party said the decision will violate the model code of conduct alleging that it is aimed at providing huge financial benefits to Reliance Industries Limited.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath, the party convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the move falls within the ambit of corrupt practices during the elections.
He said it will have an adverse impact on the lives of common people by increasing cost of fuel, transportation and fertilisers.
