Kejriwal claims he restored snapped power lines at home

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that Uttar Pradesh Electricity Board had disconnected the electricity line at Arvind Kejriwal’s Ghaziabad house, but the leader later restored it himself. The connection was disconnected owing to non-payment of bills by Kejriwal since the month of March.

A statement by APP said that since Kejriwal had made appeals to the people of Delhi to not pay their electricity bills in protest against 'inflated' bills being issued by the power distribution companies, his family had also decided to not pay its power bills,  in solidarity with the consumers of Delhi.

AAP had been protesting against power and water bills in the national capital, accusing the Delhi government of being hand-in-glove with the power distribution companies that issue 'inflated' power bills. Kejriwal had sat on a 15-day fast against 'inflated' power bills in March.

The party  has been restoring electricity connections of those whose lines have been disconnected by the authorities.  However, officials of the electricity department, said, that they had restored the connection after a few hours to ‘avoid any controversy as the house belonged to Kejriwal.’
