Keeping marriage season in mind, Delhi Police allow entry of goods vehicles from 12-6 am

In view of the forthcoming marriage season, the Delhi Police have allowed the entry of heavy/medium goods vehicles to enter Delhi borders from 12 midnight to 6 am to ensure proper traffic management in the national Capital.  

Earlier, the goods vehicles could enter the Delhi borders from 11 pm till 6 am in the morning. This new decision has been taken to ensure hassle-free traffic during the marriage season. 

“Since most of the marriage halls are located at Delhi borders like Kapashera, Alipur and other adjoining areas, there will be heavy traffic during the marriage season. The entry of trucks before 12 am makes those places prone to accidents. Hence, we have decided to limit the traffic flow from 12 midnight to 6 in the morning till further orders,” said Joint CP, Traffic, A K Ojha. Delhi highways have witnessed huge traffic jams due to long queues of goods vehicles lining up at various entry points in the borders areas. 

The heavy traffic of goods vehicles resulted in long jams where motorists and cars got struck for hours after returning late from work or other engagements. 

The Delhi Police acted after LG Najeeb Jung took a call on the issue and sqeezed the timing from 12 midnight to 6 am. This move might provide some respite to those travelling to distant marriage parties using Ring Road and the border areas of Delhi.
