Kavita dies, Maliwal decries police inaction

Kavita (name changed) who was allegedly beaten by her husband and poisoned by his parents on Sunday died at Max hospital. Kavita was brought to the hospital in a critical state. 

Kavita’s brother had lodged a complaint with Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) that she has been mercilessly beaten and poisoned by her husband and his parents.

He also complained that the police were not registering an FIR against Kavita’s husband and his parents. 

After DCW’s intervention, an FIR was lodged at the Farash Bazaar police station. Kavita’s in-laws live in Ghaziabad.   

DCW Chief Swati Maliwal in her tweets lambasted at the police inaction in not filing the FIR against Kavita’s in-laws and her husband.

After her death, Maliwal again tweeted mentioning the death of Kavita after being given poison for days and beaten black and blue.

She called the incident as pathetic, shameful and disgusting.
