Kapur, Jeev to play at Lawrie Matchplay in Scotland

Shiv Kapur will be up against local man Richie Ramsay in the opening round of the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Matchplay at the Murcar Links Golf Club here on Thursday. Kapur, who has been slowly coming back to form finished in a tie for 24th at the Omega European Masters last week.

Jeev Milkha Singh, who has more experience of the Matchplay format will meet Scott Hend, the Australian, who divides his time between Asian and European Tours.

A total of 64 players will feature in the 32 first round matches at the Murcar Golf Links. Tournament host Paul Lawrie will face the young Frenchman Romain Wattel.

While this is <g data-gr-id="15">Wattel’s</g> first professional match play event, Lawrie has the experience of winning two Ryder Cup in 1999 and 2012. Lawrie will be the local favourite in his <g data-gr-id="17">home <g data-gr-id="14">town</g></g> but <g data-gr-id="16">Wattel</g> has some fond memories of golf in Scotland, having won the 2010 Scottish Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship.
