Kapu leaders threaten fresh agitation

Kapu leaders on Friday warned of fresh agitation for reservation if prompt action is not taken by the Andhra Pradesh government on their demands.

The community leaders expressed dissatisfaction over delay in implementing the promises made to Mudragada Padmanabham, who is spearheading the stir for quota in education and jobs in Andhra Pradesh.

Early this month, Padmanabham had launched an indefinite fast, demanding that Kapus be included in the list of backward classes, and ended his fast after the government promised to look into the demand. Addressing a press meet, Kapu Sadbhavana Sangham district president Vasureddy Yesudas and secretary Basava Chandramouli said it has been nearly three weeks since Padmanabham called off his fast, but the TDP-led government was yet to fulfil promises made to him.
