Kapil Mishra joins protest by NIT students in Jammu

Delhi Water and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra on Tuesday joined protest march of NIT Srinagar students in Jammu. According to Mishra, around 600 students travelled from NIT Srinagar to Jammu to protest against torture of students by Jammu and Kashmir police.

“The students contacted me in Delhi and appreciated our stand on the rights of the students to freely fly the Tricolour in NIT Srinagar,” said Mishra blaming the Centre and BJP-PDP run J&K government.

“They were brutally beaten up, several of them are seriously injured,” he added. The police did not allow their protest march even in Jammu. According to Mishra, the students expressed their anguish on cancellation of visit by Union Minister for Human Resource Development Smriti Irani. “We were sad at the fact that she never came, and that it was shameful that slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” were being allowed while flying the Tricolour was not allowed,” said Mishra quoting the students.
