Kalyan Singh bats for Modi

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh said that Gujarat chief minister Narandra Modi has all capabilities and qualities to become the Prime Minister of the country and added1 that a ‘kitten’ like Rahul Gandhi is challenging a ‘tiger’.

‘Modi is a popular leader and is fit for the PM post. It is surprising that kitten is challenging a tiger,’ he said in Etah in reference to Congress projecting Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi as its next leader.

Talking to mediapersons here he said Modi has a proven record. He has won election thrice in a row and has made Gujarat as Number 1 state of India. Whereas Rahul Gandhi had led elections in Bihar and twice in Uttar Pradesh and both the times he failed to galvanise party workers.

‘If Modi becomes Prime Minister of the country he will take the country to a new high,’ he said.

The statement has come at a time when senior Bhartiya Janata Party leaders in New Delhi have made it clear that decision of party’s prime ministerial candidate will be taken at the right time.

Singh, who is a local MP and had recently returned to BJP, also welcomed the decision of the BJP to take back Sanjay Joshi in the party.
