K K Sharma inaugurates seminar on good governance

K K Sharma, Chief Secretary, government of NCT of Delhi inaugurated a seminar on the theme of ‘Preventive Vigilance as a tool of Good Governance’ organised by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) at its Convention Centre on Friday morning.

Speaking on the occasion Sharma said that to remove corruption, transparency in the system should be brought. 

He informed that the Delhi government has decided to abolish at least hundred affidavits which have become irrelevant/redundant in present circumstances. 

The Chief Secretary said that use of discretion should be avoided in the deciding things. Sharma said that the main emphasis should by on preventive vigilance. 

The Chief Secretary also replied to certain queries raised by the officers. Naresh Kumar, Chairman, NDMC said that preventive vigilance is an important tool of management in its endeavour to 
achieve goals of good governance. 

NDMC is striving towards maximising the commercial transaction, purchases and execution of works through e-platform and I T enabled solutions including e-tendering, online bidding and award of 
contracts and posting of post contract details in tender website. 

Kumar also informed that NDMC is the first Municipal Body which adopted integrity pact and appointed independent External Monitors to bring out transparency and accountability in the Public Procurement System to eradicate corruption. 

V K Gupta, former Chief Technical Examiner, Central Vigilance Commission, also addressed and interacted with the officers in the seminar. 

This seminar was attended by Chanchal Yadav, Secretary, NDMC, senior officers, engineers, doctors, accountants and administrative officers of the NDMC.
