Judith returns home to Kolkata

Judith D’Souza who was abducted on June 9 by suspected terrorists in Kabul has finally returned to her family members in Kolkata who were passing sleepless night ever since the news of her abduction came in.

After Judith landed at Delhi airport on Saturday evening, her family members heaved a sigh of relief and her return to the city was just a matter of time.Judith’s family members cooked up good food on the occasion of the returning home.

Even few days ago, her fate was not so bright as it was not clear to the family members about her condition. Ever since the incident happened, the External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj 
had assured her family members that the Centre would take all possible steps to bring back Judith in the country and her department kept in constant touch with its counterpart in Kabul assessing the situation.

Family members of Judith D’Souza expressed their satisfaction after Judith returned to her home on 114 Noni Gopal Chowdhury Avenue on Sunday. Many of her neighbours who were also anxious for Judith gathered outside her house on Sunday evening at the time of her arrival. Judith’s mother prepared some favourite dishes of Judith.

The family members had a harrowing experience for more than one month following her abduction. Judith, an Indian woman was kidnapped from Kabul in Afghanistan in June has landed in Delhi after being rescued.

Judith’s family members were anxiously waiting for her arrival in the country and watched the television to see a glimpse of her.

As soon as the television flashed her picture following her arrival at Delhi on Saturday, her family members became emotional after watching her on the television.

Kolkata based Judith, a 40-yearold woman works for Agha Khan Foundation, an international NGO as a senior technical adviser. She was in Kabul for over a year.
