JU to begin open counselling for vacant engg seats

Students who could not secure seats in engineering colleges via electronic counselling conducted by the state government will now get the opportunity to appear in the de-centralised or open counselling of Jadavpur University (JU).

In JU, around 200 seats in the engineering and computer science department are lying vacant. State Education Minister Chatterjee gave the green signal to state-run varsities to conduct open counselling to fill up their seats, adding the state will not force them to take surplus students by compromising on talent.

Students who secured rank within 14000 can participate in the open counselling, if they have 60 per cent marks in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. The de-centralised counselling for JU will start in a few days after the necessary notification.
