JNUSU students march towards Parl, stopped by cops

JNU students and family members of missing student Najeeb Ahmed on Wednesday tried to march to Parliament from Mandi House demanding justice but were stopped mid-way by the police.

The march was carried out to mark the thirty-eighth day of disappearance of Najeeb Ahmed, the first-year MSc biotech student who has been missing from the JNU campus since October 15.

Najeeb’s mother Fatima Nafees and sister Sadaf were also present in the protest march. The students again demanded from the Delhi Police to ensure safe return of Najeeb Ahmed. The students also demanded that the Akhil Bhartiya  Vidya Parishad (ABVP) students who are involved in the physical assault of Najeeb should be booked and tried as per law.

Mohit Pandey, JNUSU President said: “We are not going to relax until Najeeb is found. We are going to keep exerting pressure on the system and demand that justice be provided to Najeeb and his family.”

Former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar also joined students in the protest rally.

Kumar raised slogans demanding justice for Ahmad, however, he did not address students.
