JNU rape case: Victim’s statement could not be recorded

The 28-year-old JNU PhD scholar, who has alleged that she was raped by an AISA activist from the university, on Tuesday again could not register her statement before a magistrate due to delay. “The victim was present in the court on Tuesday but when her turn came, it was late. The statement couldn’t be recorded,” additional DCP-I (South) Nupur Prasad said. Earlier, the victim was scheduled to record her statement before the magistrate on Monday but it could not materialise as she had cited health issues. Meanwhile, the accused AISA activist Anmol Ratan, a PhD scholar, on Tuesday moved an anticipatory bail plea before a Delhi court. Meanwhile, ABVP protested in front of Vasant Kunj police station to demand arrest of the accused, Anmol Ratan. The Right wing students’ body also demanded security of the rape survivor and immediate expulsion of the rape accused from the campus.
