JK parties ask Mehbooba to clear stand on her meeting with PM

As the deadlock over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir seems to have ended with PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti terming her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today as "very positive", the Opposition parties in the state demanded to know what transpired in the meeting.

"The issue is not about one family but about the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir. The PDP president must tell the people of the state what has transpired between her and Prime Minister during their meeting today," President of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen said.

He said if the central leadership of the BJP has given some additional assurances to the PDP chief, she must disclose it to the people.

"If there is no additional assurance from BJP as disclosed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Ram Madhav and she has agreed to form the government on the terms agreed upon in the Agenda of Alliance, she owes an explanation to the people for wasting their two-and-a-half months," the PDF chief said.

"The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNNP) said "Satisfaction of the PDP president alone will not satisfy the people of the state."

"How will she satisfy the people of the state who were made to wait for over two months? She must tell the people of the state what her demands were and have they been accepted by the BJP leadership or not," Chairman JKNPP, Harsh Dev Singh said.

He said there were rumours of horse-trading and unethical practices and the PDP chief must come clean on the issue.
