JK Council polls: Cong asks its MLAs to vote for NC

The Congress has appealed to all its MLAs to vote for National Conference candidates in the upcoming elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council.

“Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Saifuddin Soz has requested all Congress MLAs to vote for the two candidates fielded by National Conference,” a party spokesman said on Sunday. He said the legislators had assured Soz that they would follow the instructions of the party leadership and would vote for the NC candidates.

“The legislators also raised many other issues in the meeting such as deficiency of medicines for patients who have been tested positive for swine flu,” the spokesman said. Congress and National Conference has agreed on a deal during the Rajya Sabha elections in which NC had agreed to support Congress candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad and in return Congress would support NC
candidates in the Legislative Council polls.
