J&K: BJP-PDP talks on, issues remain

After BJP’s Chander Mohan Sharma lost his Rajya Sabha seat to Congress’ Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday, ongoing talks between PDP-BJP for government formation might be revisited. Even though the BJP-PDP together managed to bag three out of the four Rajya Sabha seats in the state, they lost a crucial seat to the Congress. During the course of the ongoing “structured dialogue” with PDP over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP on Sunday said it was too early to say what issues will be “dropped” to arrive at a consensus on the agenda for the alliance. The BJP also said the result of Delhi election, which will be out on Tuesday, will have no impact on government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

But it is difficult to say when we (BJP and PDP) will reach a consensus on these issues,” BJP state president and MP from Jammu, Jugal Kishore Sharma, told reporters here.
