Jimmy Sheirgill wants to make issue-based Punjabi films
Actor Jimmy Sheirgill, who balances his time between Hindi and Punjabi movies, is keen to make more issue-based movies in his Punjabi language.
Jimmy told IANS: “My aim was that Punjabi cinema should come in the big league. I have an emotional connect with Punjabi film as I am from Punjab. It is my duty to give some good films to the Punjabi audience.”
“I want to make issue-based films and I want to leave typical song and dance routines behind. I want stories which are more rooted.”
The actor made his debut in films with the hindi film Maachis, which was directed by Gulzar.
In the past, Jimmy has produced Punjabi films like Dharti, Taur Mittran Di, Saadi Love Story and Rangeelay.
The actor is also excited about his next Punjabi venture titled Shareek.
“It’s on family rivalry. It’s an emotional film for me... the most emotionally draining and challenging story. I am looking forward to this film,” said the actor, who will soon be seen in Hindi entertainer Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
