Jharkhand to use MS Dhoni’s star power to rope in investors

Giving a big push to its first ever investors summit called Momentum Jharkhand, the Jharkhand government has roped in ace cricketer and local boy Mahendra Singh Dhoni as brand ambassador of the state for showcasing different achievements of state during the maiden event. 

Talking to Millennium Post, Secretary, Department of Industries, Mines and Geology, SK Barnwal said, “Given that Dhoni is a local boy and has both domestic as well as global mass base, the government has engaged the ace cricketer for promoting investor-friendly ecosystem of the state.”

“Since Chief Minister Raghuvar Das is the first CM who has taken this initiative to open doors for investors in the mineral rich state, the promotional campaigns using Jharkhand’s icon boy would help in instilling confidence among global as domestic investors. There was and still immense potential in the state, so our prime focuses is to showcase each and every available opportunity in state to our visiting investors,” said Barnwal, who is a 1996-batch IAS topper.

“All the formalities have been completed. The promotional videos of Momentum Jharkhand investors summit featuring Dhoni has been shot and is ready to be rolled out in December, a few months prior to the two-day mega event, which is scheduled to take place in Ranchi from February 16, 2017,” Barnwal said.

“To promote industrial activity in the state and to establish itself as one of the prime investment destination of eastern India, Jharkhand has taken path breaking steps towards improvement of overall investment climate. The state has successfully implemented the framework of ‘ease of doing business’ and have devised business-friendly policies which have been instrumental in significantly reforming Jharkhand’s business climate,” the Secretary said.

Jharkhand has also launched an exclusive mobile app – Momentum Jharkhand Mobile Application for the Momentum Jharkhand Investors Summit. Available on iOS, iPad, android devices, this mobile app will help users to register for the summit, help in identifying various investment opportunities, shelf of projects, government policies, events schedule, updates and tweets about the event.
