Jewellery shop employee shot at in Asansol

Miscreants shot an employee of a jewellery shop in Asansol and took away a bag from him containing money, police said on Sunday. 

Police said Rajesh Mahaska, who was seriously injured, had been taken to a hospital in Kulti. 

According to information, some unidentified miscreants came in a motor cycle at the Barakar area of Kulti when the victim Rajesh Mahaska was closing a godown. The miscreants asked Rajesh to give them the bag which was filled with money. 

As he refused to do so, one of the criminals had shot him from point blank range and snatched away the bag containing money. The miscreants fled from the spot immediately after the incident. The victim fell on the road after receiving bullet injuries.

After hearing the firing sound, the local people rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood. They took him to a hospital in Asansol. 

The victim had suffered a bullet injury on his right leg. His condition is stated to be stable now. 

The incident had spread tension in the locality. Some have alleged that there was no adequate vigil by the police personnel. 

The local people had demanded to strengthen the security in the area. Police have started a case. They are conducting raids at various places to arrest the culprits.
