Jawans molest woman in Raiganj

A woman lodged a complaint in the police station against two BSF jawans who had allegedly molested the housewife.

The incident occurred at Bindol gram panchayat area of Raiganj in North Dinajur on Saturday. The local residents staged demonstration outside an outpost and demanded the arrest of the two BSF jawans who had allegedly molested the woman when she was grazing her cow in the locality.

The incident had triggered tension in the locality. Police said that the victim, Sabera Khatun, a resident of Koyladanga area was grazing her cattle when the accused jawans allegedly molested her. After being informed, the local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the woman who had received some injuries while trying to free herself from their clutches. They rushed her to Raiganj district hospital for treatment. The local residents threatened to boycott the BSF jawans by denying them food if the local administration does not take any action against the accused.

On the basis of certain complaint the police have started an investigation. They were interrogating the local residents to ascertain the incident. They also interrogated the accused jawans in this connection.
