Japan store showcases Indian ware

Reflecting the growing popularity of Indian apparels in China, Japanese departmental store Ito Yokado on Sunday showcased its new Indian summer collection here for the second straight year with a colourful function which included performances on Bollywood hits and a fashion parade.

The Japanese departmental chain, which has eight sprawling stores in Beijing and Chengdu, held a special show to mark the opening of the colourful Indian cotton mixed collection for women.

The fact that Ito Yokado chose to showcase the Indian collection for the second year in succession shows that Indian garments are catching up in China, Kunimi Kazumi, Director, General Manager of the company, said here.

The 'India Promotion Week,' being held in association with the Indian embassy here, presents a series of events to promote Indian apparels, accessories, household and home furnishing items brought all the way from Jaipur by the designers and collectors of the Ito Yokado.
