Japan Airlines to deploy Tokyo-New Delhi Dreamliner

Japan Airlines (JAL) announced today that it will launch its Dreamliner Boeing 787 flight to New Delhi from Tokyo from 1 May 2012.

With the launch of the Dreamliner, India will become the second country in JAL's operations to get this special high-end aircraft.

'This reiterates our commitment to the Indian market... the first Dreamliner service will be launched in India from tomorrow,' stated Japan Airlines Country Manager Yasushi Isomura.

Earlier this month, the company launched its first Dreamliner Boeing 787 service to Boston in the US.

Isomura said that India is one of the most profitable routes for JAL and the company will be able to cater to the demand.

Currently, Japan Airlines runs its Boeing 777 service five days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The Dreamliner Boeing 787 will replace the Boeing 777 service except on Thursdays.

The company, however, will phase out Boeing 777 in due course and Dreamliner 787 will be operational on all five days, said Shelly R Egbert, Manager Sales.

The Dreamliner 787 will be superior in terms of efficieny and fuel consumption as compared to  the Boeing 777.
