Jamia to hold protest march in support of Palestinians

The Outreach Programme and India Arab Culture Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, will organise a protest march against Israel’s war on Gaza and in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

The protest march will begin at 2 pm on Friday, from Jamia’s main campus gate and will conclude at the Ansari auditorium where a resolution will be passed. The students and the staff of Jamia Millia Islamia will participate in the march.

Two days ago, students and  teachers, trade unions and women protested in front of Israeli embassy against the attack on Gaza.  The demonstration had been called by All India Students’ Association (AISA), Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA), the JNU Students’ Union, All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU), Left and Democratic Teachers’ Federation (LDTF), All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA).

The protestors said that the Israeli decision to rain death and destruction on Gaza, to use lethal weapons of the modern battlefield on a largely defenseless civilian population, is the final phase in a decades-long campaign to ethnically-cleanse Palestinians. The US, they claim, is criminally guilty of backing Israel’s genocidal war.
