Jamia shooting case: Cops yet to arrest accused

In the Jamia Nagar shooting case in which the mother of the gang-rape victim was shot at, the cops have identified the assailants and are close to solving the case. Meanwhile, the woman who was recovering from the gun shot injury in the hospital has been discharged.

The cops are working on two separate cases; the gang-rape and the shooting incident. In the gang-rape case, the cops have arrested the main accused Sajid from Bijnor. They have made a substantial headway into the shooting incident as well. Sources say that the cops have detained around eight persons in the shooting case.

“We have identified the accused in the shooting case. Efforts are on to trace them. We are very close to solving the case,” said a senior police officer.

Sources have revealed that the accused Sajid arrested in the gang-rape case has revealed the name of at least three men who were sexually exploiting the 15-year-old minor girl. The cops are making efforts to nab them as well. The cops are also verifying if the incidents of rape and shooting are connected and whether the same set of people are involved.

Several teams have been formed to arrest the accused involved in the firing incident that happened early morning on December 23. Raids are being conducted at various undisclosed locations to nab the accused who fled after the incident.

The woman had earlier filed an FIR with the police that her 15-year-old daughter was gang-raped allegedly by four men.

The cops say that they are verifying all angles in the case. Cops are also interrogating Sajid to know if he had any role to play in the shooting incident and whether he left for Bijnor to show that at the time of the shooting he was not in Delhi.
