Jadavpur Univ students file complaints against harasser

Some students of Jadavpur University (JU) have lodged complaints with the authority against their class mate, alleging sexual harassment. The accused boy, a student of English department, allegedly molested the complainants; one who is from English department, and the other girl studies in Comparative Literature department.

The allegations against the accused boy have gone viral on Facebook and other social networks – as the complainants posted the whole incidents with date, time and facts. The university authority, however after receiving the complaints, has asked the boy about the incident. As per university source, the accused boy was going through mental stress due to some problems in his personal life. But he has good academic records throughout the sessions.

The university authority is now thinking of taking judicial steps before complaining about it to the police, as the career of the accused boy may be at stake then. However, most of the students’ organisation in the university has stood beside those complainants. They have alleged that the accused student has been doing these nuisances since a long time. The accrued is from a rich family background.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the Jadavpur University, Suranjan Das said they are looking into the matter seriously.
