Jab Tak Hai Jaan music out

The music of Yash Chopra’s possibly last directorial venture, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, was out on Wednesday. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, the album comprises six songs, one poem and an instrumental.

The music has been composed by AR Rahman and Gulzar has penned the lyrics. This is the first time Chopra is working with Rahman and Gulzar.

‘Music has always been the soul of all my films and I have always tried to inspire my music directors and lyricists to give their best. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect team for this film,’ said a statement from Chopra.

According to him, the music has an ‘ old soul but a contemporary modern approach’.

Rahman too gushed about his experience of working with Chopra. ‘My Hindi film career as a composer would not have been complete without working with Yash Chopra. During the process of making this film’s soundtrack I have learnt a bit about why he is so successful... and respected,’ he said.

‘It was great swimming through two safe banks of a river, one the master of romance, the other a maestro of melodies,’ said Gulzar.

The songs have been sung by Rabbi [Challa], Shreya Ghoshal and Mohit Chauhan [Saans], Raghav Mathur and Shilpa Rao [Ishq Shava], Harshdeep Kaur [Heer] and Neeti Mohan [Jiya Re].
