I’ve never dated: Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra has always been secretive about her love life and the actor, who is riding high on her success in Hollywood, says she has never been on a casual date ever. The 33-year-old opened up about her love life in an interview with InStyle magazine. She further said the concept of going on casual dates doesn’t exist in India.

“It’s very different. You like someone, you court each other, you get into a relationship. You’re answerable to each other. Whereas the non-answerability of dating, my god, I don’t know if I would ever be able to,” she added.

In the past Priyanka has been linked to actors Shahid Kapoor and Harman Baweja.

The actor who has managed to carve a niche for herself in the western showbiz industry said that she wants to break the stereotype about Indian actors in Hollywood and does not just want to be known as “spoof” there.

“Icon is a very tricky word. Icon is a legendary personality despite the success and failure. I haven’t reached that far yet...I want to keep a legacy for my children that they can be proud of. I don’t want to be known as a spoof in Hollywood,” said Priyanka “I want to break the stereotype about Indian actors...we have talent. I admire lot of people and I imbibe their best qualities. You have to find what is unique about you and the best version of yourself,” she added.

“I don’t think by doing one film in Hollywood I am done. My television show has been very successful. I take credit for that. My film career there (Hollywood) has not started yet, so I can’t harp about it just because I have a film there,” she said. The 33-year-old actor feels grateful to have been accepted in Hollywood. “I feel it is just the beginning. Indian actors deserve respect. We have been boxed into a certain thing, but we can do much, so I want to be able to open doors for us. I hope them (Indian actors) to be more successful than me,” she said.

“There have been actors male and female who have taken a sabbatical, whose films haven’t come up in two-three years. I don’t think that if they (audience) won’t see me (in Bollywood films) they will forget me. I am not an insecure person,” said Priyanka. “I don’t think I have to do a film (in Hindi) just to be seen. My show (‘Quantico’) comes every Saturday you all can see me on screen, she said. Even Baywatch will be releasing (next year),” she said.

“I don’t think Indian audience needs to be reminded ‘come see me’. If they want to see your films they will and if they don’t want to they won’t see it (films ). You can’t force anyone to see your films,” she added.
