It’s rocking!

You certainly need to be young or at least young at heart to enjoy 100% Rock, Because all evening, the place buzzes with energy. And music. And dance. And laughter. With sometimes a drunken brawl or two thrown in for good measure, nothing that turns ugly though.

For this is the place where young professionals throng after work. When they want to down a peg or two and dance with friends/colleagues/batchmates — just whoever they please. And 100% Rock provides them with the ambience and space. With dim lights and a DJ playing, a sort of a dance floor with the bar bang in the middle — it gives revellers the chance to shake their booty and get exhausted and then rush to the bar to down a drink or two.

I quite liked that the seating arrangements are not cheek-by-jowl, so you can actually spread out and create your own space. But the name misleads. So do the framed photographs of rockstars that adorn the walls. For you don’t just jive to rock here, pop music is there in abundance. Perhaps that is to suit a varied clientele.

The alcohol menu isn’t vast but covers the basics (nothing very fancy except the Grey Goose and some whiskeys) at modest prices so that you don’t have to keep an eye on the prices while taking out a big group. They also have some interesting cocktails and the menu (like Long Live Rock which comprises dark and light rum with fruits or Handy Dandy which mixes rum and chocolate and is pretty tasty). But don’t worry if you don’t want to drink. Even then there are quite a few options like smoothies, shakes, energy drinks, iced tea and more.

I tried The Real Me (rum, kahlua and chocolates) which was pretty good. Not strong enough to give you a high, little sweet but not sugary sweet. Overall, a nice cocktail to pair with spicy food.

The food again is a mish mash that should keep everyone happy. From Chinese to Thai, Italian, Continental, they have them all. I opted for some Meat balls in pepper BBQ sauce (soft and spicy) and Seafood skewers for starters (disappointing). Main course was a chicken panquette which took time to get made given that it has an elaborate recipe but was very very good.  Go for this one.
