‘IT infra spending to grow 3.3% to $2.02 bn in 2015’

Global consultancy firm Gartner on Monday said IT infrastructure spending in the country will rise 3.3 per cent to $2.02 billion this year, mainly driven by data centre modernisation initiatives. “The Indian IT infrastructure market will total $2.02 billion in 2015, a 3.3 per cent increase from 2014,” Gartner said.  The IT infrastructure market includes server, storage and networking equipment. Commenting on the figures, Gartner research director Naveen Mishra said.

“The domestic infrastructure market will witness investments primarily fuelled by data centre modernisation initiatives to drive uninterrupted and better quality of service.” He added that the IT infrastructure market will go up to $2.29 billion in 2018. Domestic companies will focus on creating integrated data centres for optimising existing IT assets and delivering non-stop IT services to business, the consultancy said, specifying where it sees the demand coming from. It further said the enterprise networking market will grow 7.02 per cent to $944 million in 2015 driven by an increased focus on mobility and big data activities and software defined networking.
