An Irish court has dismissed a Sikh man’s appeal that he be allowed to wear turban while on duty in the country’s police force. The court dismissed the challenge by Ravinder Singh Oberoi, a Sikh youth who completed the first three stages of training for the Garda Reserve when he was told he would have to wear a full Garda uniform and could not wear a turban.
The Garda Reserve is a voluntary unpaid body drawn from the community to assist the existing police service.
