IOC’s 6th inter divisional cricket tourney reaches its final stage

Sanjiv Singh, Director (Refineries) inaugurated the much awaited 6th Inter Divisional Cricket Tournament (IDCT)- a carbon neutral event at Panipat Refinery Township stadium on March 9. 

Unfurling the IDCT flag, Singh congratulated Team Panipat for coming forward to host the event. He also said, “It is a good opportunity for PRPCians to showcase hospitality to fellow IOCians. I am sure, this is going to be a thrilling event and let the cricket and sportsmanship spirit win at the end of the day”.   He also said that sports’ events and physical exercise is very important to keep our mind and body healthy which leads to enhance productivity.

The 6th IDCT was formally started with an exhibition match between Teams Director (R)-XI and ED (I/c)-XI which had garnered much fun and frolic amongst spectators in the stadium and online viewers. 

Earlier, Singh had inaugurated a “metallic batsman” statue designed by mechanical maintenance team which was wonderfully made of 175 metal bearings selected from the scrap.   He also planted a sapling at the lawns of Guest house to make the event carbon neutral. A total of 2000 saplings have been planted in and around Panipat Refinery Township and Refinery Complex.  The thirteen participating teams are Mathura Refinery, Haldia Refinery, Guwahati Refinery, Barauni Refinery, Gujarat Refinery, Panipat Refinery & Petrochemical Complex , Digboi Refinery , Bongaigaon Refinery, Paradip Refinery , Refineries Headquarters , Marketing Division , Pipelines Division and R&D. 

Started in the year 2007, Gujarat Refinery hosted the first IDCT and subsequent tournaments up to 2011.   After Guwahati Refinery in 2013, on Friday IDCT is being hosted by Panipat Refinery & Petrochemical Complex. This time some of the sponsors are PROPEL,  SERVO, PPMC, ISRL, Pepsi, Nest Way and NRPL.
